Creating the notepad
Creating the water bottle
Creating the Thingiverse item
I wanted to make an object that would help organize various office supply items but still not take up much room itself. I began brainstorming of what I wanted my object to look like. I then looked on the website thingiverse for laser projects that would organize my office type things. I found this nice one that would be easy to assemble and would look good! Then I downloaded all the files and opened it using illustrator. The design fit perfectly for the size of the small laser. I found cardboard that was the correct thickness for the openings and Mrs. Proctor had to find a bigger piece of cardboard so the design would fit. Once the material was in the laser and made sure the whole thing would cut I pressed play and it began.
Once the design was finished being cut out I could assemble it. Below is the assembly process.
The only troubles I had was putting the last piece on. I needed to hold it together to stay. I put a rubber band around it and glued it. I am very excited to put this to use and stay more organized.
In this series of projects I learned a lot. I can see that there are so many things you can do with the laser and so many things you can make. I am a lot more comfortable with using the laser. I learned how to better use illustrator and create more unique designs. The water bottle part of the project also taught me how to use a rotational jig. Seen below are the finals of each project.
